What are the best parental control apps for Roblox in 2026?
By Boundly Team, Infinite Future · Last updated
The short answer
Start with Roblox's own Parental Controls: they're free and they're the only tool that can block a specific Roblox game. Add Apple Screen Time or Google Family Link (also free) for time across the whole device. Paid apps like Bark, Qustodio, Aura and FamiSafe mostly block or time-limit the Roblox app as a whole, and some scan chat on certain devices. None of them judge the individual games inside Roblox. That's the gap Boundly fills.
Why Roblox is different
Roblox isn't one game. It's millions of games made by its users, and each one's maturity label comes from a questionnaire its own creator fills out (Roblox Help: Content Maturity Ratings). Common Sense Media says those labels “are often inaccurate” (Common Sense Media). So the useful question isn't just “how long can my kid play Roblox?” but “which games inside Roblox are they playing, and are those OK?” Most parental control apps see Roblox as a single app, so they can answer the first question but not the second.
The comparison
| Tool | Block or time-limit Roblox | Roblox chat | Sees which games they played | Says which games to block | Devices |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Roblox Parental Controls (free) | Yes: daily limit, plus block specific games | Controls who can chat (not a chat reader) | Yes: Top games, top 20 of the last week | No: you decide | Wherever your kid plays Roblox |
| Apple Screen Time (free) | Yes: block or schedule apps | No | No | No | iPhone, iPad, Mac |
| Google Family Link (free) | Yes: block apps or set a per-app limit | No | No | No | Android, Chromebook |
| Bark | Yes: block or schedule Roblox | Scans sent chats and searches on Android and Bark Phone | Not listed | No | Phones, plus Bark Home for consoles |
| Qustodio | Yes: block or set a daily limit per app | Not listed for Roblox | Not listed | No | iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, more |
| Aura | Yes: block apps, set screen time limits | Scans in-game chat in 200+ PC games, Roblox included | Not listed | No | iOS, Android; chat scanning on Windows PC |
| FamiSafe | Yes: block Roblox, set limits for it | Says it can flag suspicious text, including Roblox chat | Not listed | No | iOS, Android, desktop |
| Boundly | No: it uses Roblox's own blocking | No | Yes: reads your kid's Top games from a screenshot | Yes: block, watch or fine, with a reason | iPhone (coming soon to the App Store) |
“Not listed” means the vendor's own pages didn't describe that feature when we checked them on October 27, 2026. Features change, so check the vendor before you buy. Sources for every row are at the bottom of this page.
Roblox Parental Controls: start here
Link your own parent account to your kid's account and you can set the content maturity level, block specific games, limit chat, cap spending and set a daily time limit (Roblox Help: Parental Controls Overview). You can also see your kid's Top games: their top 20 games from the last week, with ratings and play time (how to find it). It's free, and no other tool can block a single Roblox game. The catch: it shows you game names, not which ones are a problem. Full setup: Roblox parental controls guide.
Apple Screen Time and Google Family Link: free device limits
Both are built into the device and free. Apple Screen Time lets you “allow or block access to specific apps” and set time budgets and schedules on iPhone, iPad and Mac (Apple Support). Family Link can block an app or set a daily limit for it on Android phones and Chromebooks (Google Help). Use them for how long and when. They treat Roblox as one app, so they can't see or block individual games.
Bark, Qustodio, Aura and FamiSafe: paid monitoring
- Bark can block Roblox or schedule when it's allowed, and says it monitors sent chats and content searches on Roblox on Android devices and the Bark Phone (Bark; Bark's Roblox guide). Its strength is alerts across many apps, not judging games.
- Qustodio lets you block an app or give it a daily time limit. On iPhone it restricts the app's internet connection rather than showing a block screen, according to its help center (Qustodio Help). Good for time; it doesn't rate games.
- Aura includes app blocking and screen time limits, and its Safe Gaming feature scans in-game chat in more than 200 popular PC games, Roblox among them (Aura). Chat scanning is a PC feature; Aura's page lists $9.99/month or $8.33/month billed yearly.
- FamiSafe says it can block Roblox, set time limits for it, and flag suspicious text, including in Roblox chat (FamiSafe).
These are worth it if your main worry is who your kid talks to across many apps, or if you want one dashboard for every device. If your worry is which Roblox games they play, none of them answers that.
Boundly: which games to block, and why
We make Boundly, so weigh this section accordingly. Boundly does one thing: you screenshot your kid's Top games in Roblox Parental Controls, and it checks every game on the list against what investigators, lawsuits, news and other parents have reported, not just the creator's label. Each game gets block, watch or fine, with one plain sentence why. Then it copies the name and opens Roblox Parental Controls so you can block it in a few taps.
- Where it's not the right tool: it doesn't read chat, set time limits, or block the Roblox app. It's iPhone-only for now, and it's coming soon to the App Store.
- What it doesn't need: no login and no access to your kid's account. Screenshots are deleted right after the check.
What most families need
- Roblox Parental Controls, linked to your own account: content level, chat, spending, daily limit. Free.
- Screen Time or Family Link for device-wide time and bedtimes. Free.
- A weekly look at Top games, blocking what doesn't fit. Do it yourself, or let Boundly tell you which to block.
- A paid monitor (Bark, Qustodio, Aura, FamiSafe) only if you also want chat or multi-app alerts, on the devices it supports.
