How do I block a game on Roblox?
By Boundly Team, Infinite Future · Last updated
The short answer
Sign in to your own linked parent account, go to Settings → Parental Controls, tap your kid's name, then Settings you manage → Content restrictions → Blocked games. Tap +, type the game's name, and tap Block twice to confirm. You can block specific games until your kid turns 16.
Before you start
You need a parent account linked to your kid's Roblox account. If you don't have one yet, follow the linking steps in our Roblox parental controls guide. Roblox also has a Parent mode on the child's own device, but it is rolling out gradually and can't send you real-time alerts (Roblox Help: How to Link Your Account).
“Settings” means: on a computer, the gear at the top right; in the Roblox app, tap More (bottom right), then Settings. On the web you can also open Roblox Parental Controls directly — it opens in your browser, so sign in with your parent account, not your kid's. If you land on Account Info, tap Parental Controls in the menu.
Step by step: block a game
- Go to Settings → Parental Controls and tap your kid's name.
- Scroll down to Settings you manage and tap Content restrictions.
- Tap Blocked games (it may say Blocked experiences).
- Tap + and type the game's name.
- Tap Block, then Block again to confirm.
- If they're playing it right now, the block starts the next time they open it.
These steps come from Roblox's Parental Controls Overview. Roblox's Help Center now calls experiences “games”, but some screens and older articles still say “experiences”, so either label may appear.
What blocking does — and doesn't
- A block works whatever the game's maturity rating is. You can block a game rated Minimal just as easily as one rated Moderate.
- Blocked games still show up in search. Your kid can still see the title; they just can't play it.
- If your kid is in the game when you block it, the block applies the next time they enter.
- To undo a block, tap Unblock under the game, then Unblock again to confirm.
All four points are from Roblox's Parental Controls Overview.
Which ages can you block games for?
Parents can block specific games through age 15. Roblox extended this from age 12 when it introduced Roblox Kids and Roblox Select accounts in 2026 (Roblox newsroom, Apr 2026). From 16, the “Settings you manage” list no longer includes game blocking (Roblox Help: as your child gets older). See what changes at 13 and 16.
Is there a limit on blocked games?
Roblox hasn't published one. Parents on Roblox's developer forum report a cap of 100 blocked games per child and say Roblox staff described it as a technical limit (DevForum thread). Treat that as unconfirmed, but it's a good reason to block the riskiest games first rather than everything at once.
How do you decide which games to block?
Start with the games your kid actually plays. Roblox shows a parent your kid's Top games — their top 20 games from the last week (how to find it). Then look past the rating: Roblox's maturity labels come from a questionnaire the game's own creator fills out (Roblox Help: Content Maturity Ratings; labels explained).
That matters because investigators allege that labels miss things. Florida's attorney general alleges that games rated Minimal or Mild and open to young accounts contained violent and sexualized content (Florida AG complaint), and an October 2024 report by Hindenburg Research made similar findings (Hindenburg Research). These are allegations, not court rulings — but they're why checking each game is worth a minute.
